27th September.
The elaboratety carved stone cross stands in the churchyard of a Devizes parish church and the small cross marks the resting place of a Deacon at Salisbury Cathedral - both photos taken during a tour of Wiltshire in 2005.

Boast in the Lord
26th September.
Not exactly a call off arms I should think - considering what was going on in King David's times - but rather a reminder of the fact that the faction with the best weapons or the largest army does not always win... Trust in ourselves, or in our country's defences, alone is mislead.
The medieval soldier wax figures are in the "Kingmaker" exhibition at Warwick Castle/England - photos taken in 2006.

Not you but God
24th September.
One he verses that are often overlooked as just part of the story, and yet it has so much to tell us!
Photos: Both the threshing floor and the medieval dining table can be found in the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum/Sussex where I visited in 2006 with my Mum.

Strength from the Lord
The Pearl Merchant
22nd September.
One of the more obvious of Jesus's parables but still it has always been obscure as to how far we are meant to go with the giving up of "everything" - surely we cannot all live like monks..?
Photos are all from Leeds Castle in Kent, one of the few places I've been to in England where you are allowed to take photos of anything you want inside!

Joseph in Prison
21st Septmber 2009.
I first that thought that this was an odd verse to have been chosen for the daily meditation but then I reaslised that it does teach us something, but is probably often overlooked in this respect!
This is lots of layers - I used a dark background from the kit, overlaid it with the photo of that heavy door and applied darken to the photo layer; then overlaid it with one of the printed papers and reduced the opacity a lot. The journal boards are then inserted underneath the final layer as well.
The photo of the door in the background is from a tiny old church in Devizes/Wiltshire and the top photo is a portcullis on the Bloody Tower in the Tower of London, both taken in 2005 when my Mum came for a visit.

Apostle Names
Workers for the Harvest
15th September 2009.
The two photos were taken a few years back while visiting a small church on a bellringing trip - they had the most wonderful decorations up for the Harvest Festival including lovely flower arrangements and this elaborately baked bread on the altar. The flower picture is blended into the background, as are the words "Harvest" which I made into a brush. They were all stamped in the same colour, using different overlay modes afterwards.

Healing the sick
14th September 2009.
My husband took this photo a few days ago when I was trying to have a lay-in in the morning - rather a coincidence that it would fit so well into this LO a few days later...
The layout is the quickpage I did for the August swap which was based on a template by PencilLines.

Numerous as Stars
13th September 2009 - a verse from the OT for a change, and a lesson in obedience. Photos from a holiday club at church several years ago (which had nothing to do with obedience in any way or manner, but well, the verse talks about descendants...).

Gentiles at the Feast in Heaven
12th September 2009 - this is a really nice and reassuring verse, especially for us (Gentiles). It also really reminded me of the "African Night" bring+share dress up party at church a couple fo years ago, where these photos were taken - a tiny slive of the heavenly banquet on earth that was!

Psalm 9
11th September 2009 - the Psalms have never been my favourite reading, so this was a bit of a challenge, but I reckoned this one is all about trust.
The photo is of our dog Chiefie sitting out in some real bad rain (don't ask me why!).

The Lord's Prayer
9th September 2009 - a reminder that our famous Lord's Prayer, often frowned upon as "generic prayer", comes straight out of the Bible and is what Jesus taught us to pray!
The photo shows embroidered kneelers (done in needlepoint) along the altar rail, and the picture blended into the background is taken from a print of Albrecht Durer's famous "Praying Hands".

Love your Enemies
8th September 2009 - we often think of this verse as irrelevant, at least in the Western world of today, but it can be transferred to many situations apart from outright warfare and religious persecution. The text has some examples...
The photo (also blended into the background) is graffiti on a building site fence in our neighbouring town, Staines, taken in early 2009.

Let your light shine
7th September 2009 - the verse made me think about ways to "let our lights shine", and while I try to do all these I always wonder whether it is enough... The photos are all from the collection I took for the charity crafts group I'm leading, called Stitches for Presents - top is the Care Cloth project; sign of one of the charities we support which is local to Chertsey; Christmas cards collected for recycling into handmade Christmas cards to sell; box of handmade cards ready to take to White Lodge.

Fishers of Men
6th September 2009 - participating in evangelical actions has always been the hardest past for me in faith. I do understand the call but it is just so "not me"... Photos taken at the English South Coast during the lunch break beach walk of a bellringers' outing in October 2007.
